Retract the mesh when it is not needed.
Windows and Doors / Product Guide
Pleated Insect Screens
A folding mesh screen for everyday ventilation, opened or retracted as needed.
Supply and installation begin with a site survey and written specifications tailored to your project.
01 / Understand the System
Details to consider before you choose.
A pleated insect screen is a folding mesh that moves within a frame and tracks, retracting to one or both sides of the opening depending on the system. It is fitted to windows and doors to help limit insect entry while allowing ventilation.
The number of panels, direction of movement and threshold design depend on the opening size and compatibility with the window and shutter. The mesh is not fall protection or a security barrier and must not be relied on to support children or animals.
Benefits and Applications
Movement options suited to windows and doors, depending on the system.
Coordinate the frame colour with the opening.
Add an insect barrier while allowing airflow through the mesh.
02 / Designs and Applications
Different settings. Considered solutions.
Typical installation examples to illustrate the possibilities. Select an image to enlarge it, then discuss the right solution for your site dimensions with us.
Side-opening window screen
The mesh retracts to one side of the opening. Check handle projections and the space needed for the folded mesh.
Centre-opening door screen
Two units meet in the centre where the system supports this arrangement. Check alignment and ease of passage.
Wide terrace opening
Review width and height limits, tensioning and the number of panels. A wide opening alone does not establish that a particular system is suitable.
03 / From Preparation to Handover
Clear steps from the start.
Before Installation
- Measure the actual clearance around sashes, handles and shutters.
- Check that fixing surfaces are level and free of obstructions.
- Agree the retraction side and threshold position in advance.
- Consider children and animals and any separate safety measures required.
At Handover
- Test opening and closing without excessive tension or mesh displacement.
- Check that edges meet correctly and the tracks are level.
- Explain how to use the moving handle bar and clean the pleats.
Dimensions, materials, models, performance limits, installation scope, timeframe, warranty and maintenance terms are defined in the approved quotation. This guide is general guidance and does not replace the installed product’s documentation or a technical site survey.
04 / After Installation
Use it correctly. Care for it simply.
Every Day
Handling and Operation
- Move the designated handle bar gently. Do not push the mesh with your fingers.
- Keep shoes and toys clear of the threshold and track.
- Retract the mesh as instructed when not in use or during unsuitable weather.
As Needed
How to Clean
- Remove dust using a very soft brush or low-power vacuuming if permitted by the manufacturer.
- If wet cleaning is permitted, wipe gently with a compatible cleaner without saturating the mesh.
- Allow the mesh to dry fully before retracting it, and remove sand from the track.
Protect the System
What to Avoid
- Do not pressure-wash, use a stiff brush or pull on the pleats.
- Do not paint the mesh or cords, or spray unapproved oils.
- Do not rely on the screen as fall protection or a security barrier.
Do Not Ignore These Signs
When to Request Maintenance
- Torn mesh or cords, or pleats leaving the track.
- Difficult movement or handle bars that no longer meet.
- A bent track or loose frame.
Agree inspection and cleaning intervals with the technician based on the manufacturer’s instructions, usage, dust and humidity. Electrical work, dismantling loaded components and work at height require a qualified professional. Do not attempt these repairs yourself.

These references inform general care principles only. They do not imply that the named brands supply this product. The manual for the installed model and material takes precedence.
05 / Frequently Asked Questions
Before you decide.
Does it keep out all dust?
No. Depending on its type, the mesh is intended to screen out insects. It allows air through and is not a sealed dust filter.
Will it fit any door?
Suitability depends on dimensions, frame and threshold space, and conflicts with the door leaves. A site survey is needed to confirm it.
