01 / Understand the System
Details to consider before you choose.
A glass façade combines glazing, profiles, fixings, gaskets, sealants and drainage. It may form a shopfront or a multi-storey building envelope. Selection starts with the drawings, loads and intended use.
Glass type and thickness, profiles and fixings are determined through calculations, approved design and safety requirements. Wind resistance, insulation and safety cannot be established from a design image. Ordinary glass must not replace safety glazing where safety glazing is required.

03 / From Preparation to Handover

Before Installation
- Provide architectural and structural drawings and review loads and applicable requirements.
- Approve samples of glazing, profiles and compatible sealants.
- Plan safe access for installation, cleaning and maintenance.
- Define the weather-sealing scope, joints and required tests in the contract.
At Handover
- Visually inspect the glass, edges, profiles and gaskets from a safe position.
- Review joints, drainage and the agreed performance tests.
- Provide approved drawings, material details and maintenance instructions.

Handling and Operation
- Do not lean furniture, signs or equipment against the façade.
- Do not add films, large stickers or openings without checking glazing compatibility.
- Keep required drainage and ventilation paths open.
As Needed
How to Clean
- Clean accessible areas with a soft tool and a glass cleaner compatible with the coating.
- Dry gently and do not rub coarse dust across the glass.
- Have high-level areas cleaned by a qualified team using safe access equipment.

- Do not use blades, abrasives or acids to remove construction marks.
- Do not clean high-level areas by climbing or leaning out of windows.
- Do not remove fixings, gaskets or sealants yourself.

When to Request Maintenance
- Any crack, breakage or unusual movement of a pane or profile.
- Persistent leaks, discontinuous joints or detached sealant.
- Damaged glass near an entrance: cordon off the area and contact a specialist immediately.
Agree inspection and cleaning intervals with the technician based on the manufacturer’s instructions, usage, dust and humidity. Electrical work, dismantling loaded components and work at height require a qualified professional. Do not attempt these repairs yourself.

Before you decide.
Can a façade be priced from a photograph?
A photograph helps explain the appearance, but a technical quotation requires dimensions, drawings, the system and glazing types, and loads.
Is all safety glass unbreakable?
No. Safety-glazing types are chosen to reduce particular risks. The term does not mean the glass cannot break.
